It means you add the 6th and 9th degree of the scale to the chord.

And please, if you are from NJ, can you please speak English, not Instant Message language.

Yep, we have readers from around the globe, so the closer we can get to English the better.

But about your question, the first part refers to the plain old root chord, in this case D. The rest really talks about the flavor, the added ingredients as it were. So with add6add9 you are adding the 6th note of the D scale and the 9th.

It's a bit more complex than that but not overwhelmingly so. Go check out David's lesson "Theory without tears"
