welcome to guitar. losing a pick inside is a sure sign of membership.

once when I was changing strings (all off at one time) I answered the phone, leaving the guitar on it's side.
my inquisitive pet bird hopped in. she liked it in there; she wouldnt come out.
I couldnt use the upside down shake method, so I left her alone and began making cooking sounds in the kitchen.
she loved to mooch food and climbed right out.

I believe the pencil and sticky tape method works quite well in cases like these as well. The Cobain method however, should be avoided unless absolutely necessary.

I've had a lot of sobering thoughts in my time.
It was them that turned me to drink.

I just HATE when my pick falls into the soundhole. Especially when I'm really into the song, got the rhythm going and all and then...straight into the soundhole. But that's happened less, lately. I somehow manage to avoid the soundhole and throw it on the ground instead. :D Not any less embarrassing but at least, it's easier to retrieve. ;) Unless it falls and 'disappears'. >.>

Anyway, yea, just shake it, like many others said. Careful not to drop the guitar though. O.O
