I came across this guitar while searching the web http://www.washburn.com/products/electrics/anarchy/wv16.aspx and I was wondering if anybody has had any hands on experience with this guitar? I want to know so I don't end up buying a dud.[/url]
Personally I've never understood why a guitar should look like that - but that's the only thing I have to say about it. The real reason I post is to say

Thanks. :o If you don't think that it's a good guitar, could you maybe recommend me one?
Sorry - as I said, I don't know anything about it except that it doesn't look like any of my guitars. BUt hang on - AFAIK there are other flying V - and that kind of style - players in here. Check out e.g. The Grown Up Table thread below in this forum

Washburn are supposed to be fairly decent beginnerentry level guitars.
Just beware, you can't play Vs sitting down.
You can play Flying Vs sitting down. A good friend of mine named Albert King has been doing it for years. Heres a pic -
I dont have any personal experience with a Washburn, but you will never know if its good until you play it yourself. Even well established companys like Fender make VERY crappy guitars once in a while. For one of those horror stories, go here - http://fenderpick.com/showthread.php?t=2448
You've got to realise that every single guitar is different and by ordering it online, you are taking a risk. So all the recommendations that you get does not mean that you wont get a dud. Good luck.

Thank you. I play my Flying V sitting down every now and then.
As for Washburns I don't have much experience with them to say if they're good or bad. Seems every company manages to make a crappy guitar here and there, IMO.

Everything is 42..... again.
Well, the price seems high for what you are getting. a Basswood body, no name tuners and pups, bolt on neck. It may not be a bad guitat but it is an overpriced one
Immature? Of course I'm immature Einstein, I'm 50 and in a Rock and ROll band.

I'll second this. A nice dean will have better woods, pickups, tuners and so on.
It's not even close to $450. Don't be fooled by MSRP. There are some of these guitars in the local shop, I'm going to try and check the prices. I'm willing to bet it's not even $450 canadian in Newfoundland, where we pay an arm and a leg for everything.
