Spacedog,

get yourself a slowing prgram/plugin. Windows Media Player will do it as will a really nice program called "transcribe!" (which also includes a spectrum analyser). Slow the clip down to 60-70% until you're confident enough to up it to 80%, then 90% and then full speed.

I started with nothing - and I've still got most of it left.

So far I've have the book a week, and have only worked on the first two exercises. I'm trying to get them down perfectly, or damn close and then continue to improve as I review them with time. The most significant change in technique that I'm noticing is a new ability to mute previously played strings (especially open strings) with the meat of my fretting finger when moving to a note on a lower string.

Hope that makes sense. Any other suggestions on how to use this book? I'm very happy at this point.
