I recently bought a Gibson Les Paul Studio. I notice that when I have the selector switch in the middle position and I have the neck pickup volume turned down, I don't get any sound at all, regardless of what I have the bridge pickup's volume set at. Is the bridge pickup supposed to be silent in the middle position? Is this normal?

The middle selection uses both pickups. However, if you have one of the pick up's volume totally down, you don't get anysound. The idea being, if you wanted to use just the bridge pickup, you would flick the switch to the bottom. You can however turn the neck pickup mostly down, leaving it at say 3 or 4, and leave the bridge pick up at 10, to get a MOSTLY bridge sound, with a little of the warmth of the neck pickup...The same goes for the tone knobs.

From a fellow LP owner, hope that helps
