pearl jam-elderly women behind the counter in a small town, yea so i just got a cd with this on it and i'm making an attempt to learn this song. i figured out the chords there D, G, and C9 thats easy but i cant get down the strumming. when i listen to it it seems like he speeds up an slows down while strumming, but i find it hard to keep a beat like that. i think the strumming is an accented down but then i lose it. help on the strumming pattern would be awesome

be good at what you can do-

Easy peasy - D D U D U

Accentuate the first Down stroke at 'I' (D), 'seem' (Cadd9) and 'recognise' (G) for example, with the DUDU in between. Continue like that, switching between the C and G prior to beginning next line. Slow strumming down as the lyrics slow at 'Hearts and thoughts...'. Keep normal strumming for the lead into the above (the part that says 'All these changes...., which is the Cadd9 and Asus (but keeping bottom two strings fretted at 3'. That's it. Apart from the D, you can keep your fingers on the bottom two strings the entire song.
