He's not my cup of tea but the man is talented. Sorry, back on track now! I don't think I would do it...just because I'm overly paranoid.

Most of his stuff I don't like, however All Along the Watchtower was another story. I never knew we had any playing talent, I had always thought he was a showman, until I saw him play While My Guitar Gently Weeps: http://youtube.com/watch?v=ILDGkKqFLoI

I'd worry more about lightning than rain.

The whole dying while playing in the rain is bad and all but, how does the water on the guitar and the strings effect the sound.

My dad would always talk about retirement, and allude to the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. And I say all you've got at the end of the rainbow is death. You're riding the rainbow right now. - Mark Borchardt

It dampens the vibrations. But it helps give you a fluid playing style.

All along the watchtower - Prince: http://youtube.com/watch?v=DzzQ6ZxbPOc

Pre-cursor - I love Prince's early work, for some reason his music makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up in a way that no-one elses ever has and I have no idea why that is. It is indeed odd. Anyway....

There is an early album by Prince (his second), called Prince and inside it says:

"Produced, Arranged, Composed and Performed by Prince"
and at the back it says:
"At the age of 7, Prince first began picking out popular melodies on the family piano. he was an accomplished guitar player at 13, at 14 he had mastered drums. He learned to play 26 instruments while still in his teens. He formed his first band at 12 and 'went solo' at 17."

His first album was out in 1977.

You may not like him, you might think he sucks, you might think he's an odd little bugger but you cannot deny that the guy has talent, and that to fans of his he is pretty much a genius.

Thanks for the link, its made me dig out a couple of old albums for a listen.

More on the prince half time show. Better add playing guitar with a sheet in front of you and lamp behind you to the list of things to learn how to do well, along with playing guitar and singing, and walking and chewing gum at the same time.

there were certainly enough fumbled notes for it to have been done live by Prince...

Sir Paul was incredible last year.

..They should have had Billy do the half time show :(

If I remember Sir Paul played 2 years ago. The Stones played last year and (in my opinion) they were terrible. Looked like Mick couldn't remember half the lyrics.

I found another article about Prince playing in the rain during the Super Bowl halftime show.

Nice article. Thanks. I had no idea that someone had actually died form their guitar not being properly ground. Kind of makes you want to go wireless.

I think you're right tjk. All I remember was that Mick was still trying to be the sexy singer type guy, and it was gross.
