I have read on GN in multiple articles that there is a big difference between practice and playing.I just started to play the guitar and would like to know a good practice routine. I have 20-30 minutes/day. I know a couple of chords.(G,C,D,A,and Em) Thanks for any help I can get.

A really hard question because as you advance your practice routine will change.
First off and really important. Make sure your guitar is really in tune.
String to string harmonics is ok for a quick check to see if any individual string has gone out of tune but what are you refrencing it to?
Use a tuner at least once a week. More often is even better.
After tuning do some finger exercises (good for lossening up your fingers and avoiding injury.) Scales are good for this.
After you are warmed up practice the chords you know and work on switching between them. When you are comfortable start adding some more chords and start working on strumming patterns.
That is just a sample of things to do at the early stages of developement.
Now go forth young guitarist, the world awaits you.
