Hi, Spyros, and welcome to Guitarnoise.

What currency are you talking in?

If you've got Great British Pounds, you can get a Marshall MG100DFX at the top end of your price scale. If you've (only) got dollars, your choices are more limited.

Best,

A :-)

Hi Spyros (presuming USD)
If you like classic rock/ blues with few effects and mild distortion, save a bit more and get a 15 watt tube Fender Blues Junior.
For metal, heavy distortion and a lot of wiz bang effects, Behringer, Vox, Roland and Marshall all make 30 watt solid states plus FX that should be in your price range.

If at all possible, take your guitar to a music store and plug it into a few.

That's a great range for used amps, if you take the time, you can probably pick up a pretty sweet Classic 30, Blues Jr, etc.

Yes absolutely don't rule out a used amp. There are great deals out there.
I recently bought a Crate GTX 212 for $250. It is in like new condition. So much so that if I set it next to a brand new one you wouldn't be able to tell which is which.
MSRP on this one is $600. They sell in shops for $450 to $500 and online for $400.
You can certainly get more bang for your buck this way. Just be carefull and check the amp out thoroughly before buying.
