Hey,
I've had a Washburn acoustic for the longest while (just a cheap House of Blues guitar), and I recently picked up a Barracuda stray copy. Anyways, I've been trying to play Knockin' On Heaven's Door (the original by Dylan), and it goes something like G D A G D C, with a couple of variations. I've got the strumming right, but it just doesn't sound right. I have a Capo on the second fret, and there's still something missing. Any thoughts? Thanks.
The tab that I have, doesn't use a capo, just open G, C, etc.
I started with nothing - and I've still got most of it left.
Did you know that the word "gullible" is not in any dictionary?

same here....no capo..... try G/D/Am/G/D/C :D
Have you tried different voicings of the same chords?
Could check sites like http://www.chordfind.com or http://www.chordsandscales.co.uk/ if you need some ideas.

I think Ballybiker has nailed it. If Moses has been playing A major instead of minor, no wonder it doesn't sound right.
Anyone know where I can find an mp3 of just the guitar, or at least just the instrumental? HE sings louder than his guitar.
Thanks for all the help!
That progression is wrong, it goes G D Am, G D C.
That is my guess as to why it doesn't sound right. You can play all of these with open position chords.
If you know something better than Rock and Roll, I'd like to hear it - Jerry Lee Lewis
Does anyone have the strumming pattern for this song?

A simple one is G Dduu
D Dduu
Am Dduu dduu
G Dduu
D Dduu
C Dduu dduu
The large D after the chord is a little more emphasis on that strum.
