Besides the lessons on the main site, have you checked the the easy songs database in the forums? Tons of them over there...
a song that i recently came across that's contemporary and VERY easy to play is by The White Stripes called (something like) I Can Tell That We Are Going To Be Friends. you can find the tab to it at Fretplay.com. I'd post it the the Easy Songs Database but i don't know how.
You might also browse the lessons forum. Lots of conversation about the lessons has taken place there.
