There was a $10 dvd I learned my beginner stuff off of. It's called Beginning Guitar Volume One. It's from Hal Leonard, and it is great for beginners.
Album progress:15%
I am also very new to guitar, about 2 months. I found a site that I have been using that is as close to having your own teacher as you will find on the internet - http://www.learnguitar.net . When you look at that page, it may turn you off at first, because it looks like lots of the other "Learn Guitar Quick" sites. It is not. It is very structured into one on one lessons and they will take it as slow or as fast as you like. They also have some good video clinics that you can try while you are waiting for your first lesson. You have an instructor that you can actually email to discuss your progress or lack of. I signed up for six months of lessons for $99 - well worth it. The monthly fee is $24.95. You can try it for three days free, but you will have to provide a credit card. If you are not happy, make sure to cancel before the three days or they WILL charge you. I hope this does not sound like I am trying to spam. I am just so pleased with this site I had to recommend it somewhere. I also love Dave Hodge beginner stuff on this site, but sometimes find it a bit advanced for me.
By the way, just to introduce myself to this group (my first post) I am 55 years old, and I am having a ball with this new hobby.
Good Luck!

Be patient. You will learn the tricks of the trade in due time.
Now how about some more info: how long have you been playing, what is giving you problems?
Also, I will second Hal Leonard's beginner books.
Latest addition: Cover of "Don't Panic" by Coldplay
