Recently I've become interested in playing jazz guitar, and I've been wondering how to get started. I know basic music theory: chords, modes, etc., but I was wondering if there were any books I should check out to get started with. Thanks for any help.

You will want to read up a lot on theory, especially chord construction etc, but I reckon there is no substitute for being show how it's done by the best. Have a look here:

If you can lay your hands on the Joe Pass - Solo Jazz Guitar, and/or Emily Remler - Bebop and Swing, I recommend you do so.

Yeah, and the best thing would be to find some other musicians to play jazz with.
