Heres one specially for our very own `Ghostrider'.
As kids we loved the old westerns on TV which always seemed to have a Frankie Lane score similar to this song. Remember Rawhide, Tenderfoot et al
Only four chords on this one. For the strum pattern I imagined in my head the sound and beat of galloping horses, it really works. So here goes:
Put a capo on fret one., but its ok without.
Verse 1:
(Em)An old cowboy went ridin' out (Em) one dark and (G) windy day
Up (Em) on a ridge he rested (Em) as he went on his way
(Em) when all at once a (Em) mighty herd of (Em) red eyed cows he saw
Above (C) him in the ragged (Am) sk----ies and up a cloudy (Em) draw.
Chorus:
(G) Yipie I yay (G) Yipi I (Em) yo
(C) Ghost riders in (Am) the (Em) sky
And thats all there is to it!
Here are the rest of the verses without the chords which are the same as above, I'm a bit rushed too!
Verse 2:
Their brands were still on fire and thier hooves were made of steel
Their horns were black and shiny and their hot breath you could feel
A bolt of fear went through him as they thundered through the sky
For he saw the riders coming hard and he heard their mornfull cry.
Chorus same as before
Verse 3:
Their face was drawn their eyes were blurred their shirts were soaked
with sweat
Their tryin hard to catch that herd but they aint caught em yet
Cause you,ve got to ride forever on that range up in the the sky
On horses snorting fire as they rode on hear their cry.
Chorus same as before
Verse 4:
As the riders loaped on by him he heard one call his name
If you want to save your soul from hell a riding on our range
Cow-boy change your ways today or with us you will ride
Tryin to catch the devils herd across this moonlit sky
Final chorus same as before
There it is! Yee Haa
Chris
The guitar is all right John but you'll never make a living out of it! (John Lennon's Aunt Mimi)
