Here is a song with a bit of a political bent--not necessarily my own. But my son was only 7 years old on Sept 11, 2001, and was deeply affected by the events of that day. He wants to learn this song so I worked out some chords for it and thought I'd post it here in case anyone else is interested.

It is Darryl Worley's Have You Forgotten.

Here is a link to his video of it on YouTube, in case that helps you learn it.

I'm using a strum pattern of all downward strums, on beats 1, 3 and 4, leaving beat 2 silent.

Well after 9/11, man I'd have to say that's right.

Don't you tell me not to worry ‘bout Bin Laden

Hey! great song Margaret.

I agree from a political angle it's maybe not everyones cup of tea but I think everyone can take bits of its message to suit their standpoint. I don't think anyone will ever forget that day and we shouldn't.

The thing is you can't keep a good well constructed song down. I'm going to enjoy learning it just purley for the joy of the music.

So thanks Margaret for your work on this one and being brave enough to post it here.

Peace

Chris

The guitar is all right John but you'll never make a living out of it! (John Lennon's Aunt Mimi)

Thanks, Dogsbody. I really did hesitate whether or not to post it.

I know my son doesn't have any grasp of the world politics surrounding it all--he just remembers the tragedy and horror of the day itself, and I worked out the song for him.

You stated my feelings, as well, that we should and will remember the lives lost on 9/11, regardless of the politics of events following.
