I was watching this guy on one of the MTV chanels the other night and thought "wow". There was this guy who seemed to be almost petrified of the audiance looked as though he didnt want to be where he was, spoke with a very sweet voice. but when he sang although it seemed to be in a very high key enough to make you think, he's never gonna make it through the middle eight starting that high. But boy did he have power in that singing voice.
I am as you probably know talking about Roy Orbison.
Watching that show was quite an eye opener in as much as I didnt realise just how many of his songs I knew.
Anyway here is a fairly easy one of his if you can do one or two barre chords, if not just join in with the doo wah's
Dum-dum-dum-(F)dumdy-doo-wah
Ooh-yay-yay-(Gm)yay-yeah
Oh-oh-oh-(Bb)oh-wah(C7)
Only the (F)lonely (C7)
Only the (F)lonely (dum-dum-dum-dumdy-doo-wah)
Know the way I feel (Gm)tonight (ooh-yay-yay-yay-yeah)
(C7)Only the lonely (dum-dum-dum-dumdy-doo-wah)
Know this (Bb)feelin' ain't(F) right (dum-dum-dum-dumdy-doo-wah)
There goes my baby(F) (F) (F)
There goes my heart(F7) (F7) (F7)
They're gone forever (Bb) (Bb) (Bb)
So far (G7)apart (C7)
But only the (F)lonely
Know (Bb)why
(C7)I cry
Only the (F)lonely
Just repeat everything from the previous
verse and chorus
Dum-dum-dum-dumdy-doo-wah
Ooh-yay-yay-yay-yeah
Oh-oh-oh-oh-wah
Only the lonely
Only the lonely
Know the heartaches I've been through
Only the lonely
Know I cried and cried for you
Maybe tomorrow
A new romance
No more sorrow
But that's the chance - you gotta take
If your lonely heart breaks
Only the lonely
Dum-dum-dum-dumdy-doo-wah
Like I said its not too difficult and I'm sure someone will come up with
some alternative chords.
I suppose there is no reason why you couldnt put a capo on the first but i wouldnt know what to do about the Gm. anyway I'm rambling now , please enjoy a 60's classic.

Thanks for that Vic. I didnt think it would take long to get that sort of info. The question is what on earth were you doing up at that time in the morning.
Just got back from "Music Live Show" at the NEC. far too much stuff there to take it all in and nowhere near enough money in me pockets.
