Have any of you ever built your own custom switching system?
if so, are there schematics available?
i need to build something to handle all of my pedals,multi-effects, and loopers. Amp switching would also be a plus

i know it will be more complex than the models below but along the same lines.
i'm refering to something like this

or this

The thing is, if you're looking to build your own switching system and use some sort of schematic, i think you'll probably have to be very specific of what kind of set-up you want. Even if you only use 4 single effects, you can make things complicated (for example, you could design a multi-switcher that can turn the effects on in any order, that would be complex). So the first thing I would do is decide what the order of all my effects (multi-effects, etc.) is. Maybe you want to be able to change the order of effects, in that case

http://www.geofex.com/

click on "FX Projects" on the side of the page and then look under "Signal Routing And Effects Order" for "The Juggler".

After deciding that, you need to figure out if you want things like LED indicators, true-bypass (and noiseless) switching. Again, for that I would recommend the geofex page, it's got alot of great info.

So long as you have some knowledge and experience with electronics it could be a fun project: I've never personally built switching systems but I built a couple of pedals. Also, remember that building your own switching system may not necessarily be cheaper than buying one already on the market, assuming that there is one that would do what you want it to do.

Thanks Steve-O
Thats a great source of info.

I currently have 7 effects pedals and 2 loopers (Bad Monkey Overdrive,Dunlop Q-zone Wah, Dan E EQ, Dan E Fab- Echo,Distortion,Chorus, Rocktron Compressor, Korg AX10G multi Effects Pedal, Gibson Echoplex, Digitech JamMan )
and I'm constantly switching the order around for use with Electric and A/E guitars thus the idea of buying/building a custom switching system arose.
Added to this is the need to switch between my acoustic and electric amps is creating a challenge in designing a system that will allow everything to work together with minimal delay while playing/recording.

any suggestions would be appreciated.
this site has some variations that my be perfect for my needs

That's a tough one. If you use the effects in the same order for both guitars, then it's just a simple matter of getting a switcher to switch between the electric and acoustic guitars, but if you're switching the order then it's not that simple.
