So i'm trying to figure out what to ask for, because Christmas is coming up. I know I want to get a pedal or two. So far I have decided on the Behringer TubeScreamer but I want to try something else out. I'm into classic rock and was looking at some artist's setups and saw that a lot of bands out of the 60's used fuzz pedals. I was wondering if anyone knew of a good one, i've actually never even seen one???

Or if you have other suggestions please feel free to throw those out to, I'm really big into guitar players like Clapton, Page, Blackmore, Green, pretty much the guitar gods of that era. I have never played guitar with a pedal so I'm pretty open to suggestions.

the seymour duncan tweak fuzz is very versatile. however, be wary that it is NOISY at high gain and volume. but if you keep the settings from getting too extreme, it's very very nice. $100. big ole yellow thing.

Might I suggest a delay/echo pedal? I was a big part of the classic rock sound.

You could try the MXR Distortion+ or maybe the FuzzFace reissue from Dunlop. And maybe a VOX wah.

an MXR compression wpould really add a nice touch to your tubescreamer. with it you can nail alot of those classic player's tones.
my basic setup for that is:
compressor>tubescreamer> delay>tubeamp.
I have other stuff, but that is the stripped down basic setup. simple and decisive...

How big's your budget?

A Wah pedal gets my vote because they're user-controllable. You can get them for reasonable money on e-bay if you don't want to pay new

Best,

A :-)

Well, the pedal that's on my most wanted list is Boss' new Looper pedal, as seen below. They're aren't going to change you're tone(at least improve it :P)but as a practice and performing tool they work wonders! Plus, Boss just came out with a new one, which can do what most of the more expensive loopers do for less money and in a smaller form. Sounds good to me...

Number two would have to be a Wah pedal. Maybe the Snarling Dog, as it's got a couple different wah sounds in one pedal, combined with a distortion pedal and low price all in the same package. I'm sure there are better wahs, but for this price?

So i've been looking at all the suggestions and I have mainly decided on the tubescreamer, a compressor, and a wah. Thanks a lot because I wouldn't have considered the compressor at all and i've always thought wah pedals were a little beyond me but i'm gonna give it a try.

a tubescreamer would be a great investment especially the old ibanez ones like srv and alot of blues players use
a wah is a great pedal i would suggest the original crybaby i have never had a problem with it but i would steer clear of the wahs with other effects built in i have not heard many good things mostly bad

+1 for the Behringer Vintage Tube Overdrive, I assume that is what you refer to as a tube screamer. I have never heard or used an Ibanez Tubescreamer but for the buck invested I am really pleased with my Behringer pedal. I know others have recommended it here in the past, Wes Inman comes to mind. You won't be disappointed. A compressor is great just got my danelectro Surf and turf and love it. Also recommend an Equalizer pedal. I use the behringer Graphic equalizer and like it. But pedals are very sujective and it really depends on the tone you are trying to achieve. For the price Danelectro and Behringer pedals seem to meet my needs and if one doesn't I haven't got 2 or 3 hundred bucks tied up in say an older Ibanez Tube Sreamer for example. Have fun!

Yeah that Clapton stuff is sort of what i'm going for. Love that bluesy rock.

Robbie, I gave that equalizer a look and will probably order it too, thanks for the suggestion.
