Jimmy Page played not only with Zeppelin, but he had also played on "I Can't Explain" by the Who. Of course, Townshend also played with Clapton at the Rainbow Concert, where Ron Wood also played. Wood plays for the Stones now, but John Paul Jones also did some session work with the Stones during the early days.

Okay, let's come full circle to John Paul Jones!

John Paul Jones is by now of course almost as well known as a producer and composer as he was as a bass player, and is as a solo performer in his own right, and among other people he has produced (REM, Brian Eno, Ben E King, Madeline Bell - the list goes on) is Peter Gabriel, who on his second album worked with that puzzling guitarist -

Along with groundbreaking collaborations and decisive contributions to such classic albums as 'No Pussyfooting' (with Brian Eno) and 'Heroes' (David Bowie), Fripp is probably best known as the co-founder and continuing member of the seminal rock group, King Crimson.

Bowie has worked with many other musicians over the years, but arguably none more influential (on him) than Mick Ronson, guitarist with the Spiders From Mars.

Ronson, best known as a guitarist and writer, also produced albums for a number of other artists, including (he produced the seminal Transformer and played piano on 'Perfect day') -

Lou Reed was a founding member of The Velvet Underground. He left that band in 1970 to begin his solo career. He collaborated and/or performed on many albums with various artists, such as, The 30th Anniversary Concert Celebration, Bob Dylan (1993), Bright Red, Laurie Anderson (1994), September Songs (The Music Of Kurt Weill) (1997), I'm a Bird Now, Antony and the Johnsons (2005) and Black Building, Kashmir (2005).

On her groundbreaking 5th album Strange Angels, Laurie Anderson collaborated with Bobby McFerrin, who although best-known as an a capella singer, has done some notable work with instrumental artists over the years, in particular -

In 1992, Chick realized a lifelong goal, along with manager Ron Moss, forming Stretch Records, a label committed to stretching musical boundaries (like its founder) and focusing more on freshness and creativity than on musical style. Among its early releases have been projects by Bob Berg, John Patitucci, Eddie Gomez and Robben Ford.

John Patitucci, who is one of the relatively few bass players I know who has moved from electric bass to string bass (though he hasn't given up the electric variety by any means) has played with Chick Corea's Elektric Band and Akoustic Band, and collaborated with Roy Haynes, Stan Getz, Danilo Perez, and is currently working with Perez and Wayne Shorter in the latter's Quartet. Of course Shorter is probably best known for his work with Weather Report, whose first bass player was the legendary Czech

Miroslav Vitous came to the U.S.A. in 1966 but only remained at Berklee for short time. In 1967 he came to New York where he quickly involved himself in the music scene playing with many different artists: Charlie Mariano, Bob Broolmeyer, Stan Getz, Herbie Mann, Miles Davis, Chick Corea and many others. In 1970 along with Wayne Shorter and Joe Zawinul formed a group Weather Report. After three years he left the group due to musical differences. After brief break he formed Miroslav Vitous Group with John Surman, Kenny Kirkland and Jon Christensen, and recorded 3 albums for ECM. He later reunited with Chick Corea and Roy Haynes (Trio Music): it was a very successful period for the trio for the following 2 and half years. Tours all over the world and 2 albums recorded for ECM is the outcome of this reunion.
After this time he made a very successfull duet world wide tour with.....

Stanley Clarke, one of the pioneer players of Alembic instruments, and a slap bass virtuoso almost before his time, played with many well-known musicians including Stan Getz, Gil Evans and Chick Corea. After the latter's band Return to Forever, and a period of solo work, he formed Animal Logic with ex-Police drummer Stewart Copeland and singer-songwriter

Robert Frederick Xenon Geldof, KBE (born October 5, 1951) is an Irish singer, songwriter, actor and political activist, known simply as Bob Geldof. He is of Irish and Belgian extraction.

More then the band and his music he is known for his 'charity' work and the band aid projects.Lying in many controversies as to the real motives of these concerts...bob defended them by saying "The boys and girls with guitars will finally get to turn the world on its axis"

He has recieved an honorary nighthood from queen elizabeth so it would be proper to call him 'Sir' bob geldof. (i have never heard any of his songs...and don't want to either , he kinda irritates me :ehh:)

Ok now ,

Cliff Richard :D

Rahul,
But what connects Geldof to Cliff Richard? You've got to establish some linkage between the two musicians.

Bob Geldof's long-time collaborator (and co-writer of "Do They Know It's Christmas?") on the Band Aid project has been Midge Ure. One of Ure's producers in the Ultravox days was Conny Plank, perhaps best known for his work with Echo & The Bunnymen and

Annie Lennox's other "Eutrhythmic" was Dave Stewart, who also had a career as a producer. In fact, he worked with the first lady of soul, Aretha Franklin.

So let's move on with Aretha Franklin!
