November rain does have a pretty bad ass solo in it....

The song itself is in straight 4/4

During the guitar solos and throughout most of the song the chords are Fmaj7 - Dm - C , the song itself is in the key of C, so for scales Slash is mainly just playing a C major scale over the changes

And for those of you who are saying "i didn't know slash used modes"

Everyone uses modes, Jimmy Page, Hendrix, Clapton, Slash, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Angus Young, the list goes on and on....

Now back to November Rain, yeah, it's basically a C major scale, but that doesn't mean you can't get creative with it.. so have fun and don't just try to copy what Slash has already done, it's cool to be able to play some of the licks that he played, but it doesn't take much ability or skill to learn a lick and play it. If you listen to live versions of this song Slash just improvises all of his solos, while the idea and feel of the solo stays the same the actual licks don't. Solos are something that should be improvised and come together through your own creativity and feeling of the song your soloing over.

Hopes this helps
