greetings,
bass goes one ocatve below guitar, does a piano go one ocatave lower?
how many, if any octaves above a guitar does a piano go?
cheers

It goes two octaves or so higher, I think. A 4-string bass either goes a little lower than a standard piano, or hovers right around the bottom end. A five-string goes lower.
Relative octaves can best be seen in standard notation, or with 'octave notation'. Middle C is c1 (on a guitar, that's first fret 2nd string); C notes above that are c2, c3, etc. Going down, the first octave below c1 is c; the octave below that is C, the one below that is CC, and so on.
The guitar has a range from E to e3 (for a 24 fret neck). The piano goes from AAA to c5.

So a piano goes one full step lower that a five-string bass with a low B string.
