Hey Gang,
Thes lyrics are about someone who gets along with everybody. Someone who claims to be a beliver around other believers, but when he's at work, he acts like his coworkers, when he's around people who are gossiping or doing not so good stuff, he acts just like them. He's a chameleon man...blending in with whoever he's with enstead of staying true to himself and his beliefs.
It's kind of like a soundgarden "Spoonman" feel with the drop D tuning.
Just thought it might help to set it up.
I'd love to hear any ideas or thoughts on improving it
Chameleon Man
Verse 1
Walking in the sunlight
Blinding your eyes
Tilt your head down
And slightly to the right
Slip into unconscious
Running from your dreams
Hiding in the darkness
Nothing what it seems
Pre Chorus
They wanna be black, you're black
They wanna be white, you're white
Red, yellow, brown, you can play it up right
They wanna be up, you're up
They wanna be down, you're down
Put on a happy face or you can wear a frown
Chorus
You are Chameleon Man
You're Chameleon Man
Any shape or size
You're Chameleon Man
Verse 2
Walk the thin line
Changing the game
Make your own rules
Never play the same
Feeling like a winner
You don't understand the shame
Point the finger at you
No one else to blame
Pre Chorus
They wanna be black, you're black
They wanna be white, you're white
Red, yellow, brown, you can play it up right
They wanna be up, you're up
They wanna be down, you're down
Put on a happy face or you can wear a frown
Chorus
You are Chameleon Man
You're Chameleon Man
Any shape or size
You're Chameleon Man

I like the Verses, but I'm just not hanging with the Pre-chorus/Chorus. I think I'm particularly biased though given my style of writing and musical preferences.
However, I do think you got your point across, which is the most important aspect of songwriting. My opinion anyway. I'd like to see what others say as well.

Thanks for the feedback....The prechorus/chorus can come off a little cheesey, but I was in a kinda cheesey rock mood when I wrote it. It sounded cool in my head. Mine may be the only one, though

Sounds very 80's in my mind, for some reason. :P
The king of rock, some say lives
the lizard king, is surely dead
the king of France, lost his head
the King of Kings... bled

Nah.. you saw what my style is like. Songs like this and the ones I seem to birth are worlds apart, so I'm a tad biased. A lot of people have made a lot of money with songs such as yours. 8)

I guess the only saving grace is if it gets the point across or not. I'm not sure it does...
Maybe I'll put it in the vault...Maybe Poison or LA Guns will make a comeback.

Nice work "gmilam". I too was a little confused by the length of the lyrics to the pre/chorus compared to the lyrics of the actual chorus. But i havnt heard the whole arrangement, so im sure it fits in. A good idea though "the chameleon man". I like that imagerey.
" Ah man, that went down like a lead balloon."
