just read an article about Mr Yoakum in our local paper. seems his new album was made outside the corporate nashville envelope and is being released by an indie label in Austin.
He was quoted as follows "All the paradigms in popular music .. not just country ... have been shattered in the last three years because of the shift from radio to ipods, from record sales to downloading." "Like everyone else I'm just trying to stay afloat."
wow this from a man whose sold 20 million records. But another quote is what really caught my eye and made me want to share it with you.
" I've lived my life on the principle that you should never resist the urge to listen to yourself before you listen to others."
