woke up with this one this morning. very much a work in progress :-)
early comments appreciated as usual
medium strum
A G A G
A D E A (kinda buddy holly)
chorus
last week I bought a used car
hidden in the trunk was an old guitar
came with a case and extra strings
and a lot of other very strange things
verse
it had built in songs about done me wrong
but not a lot bout how to get along
a coupla tunes bout livin in sin
but not a single hymn about following him
I heard songs about love
songs about war
songs about breakin up
and givin what for
but not once did I hear
bout kids and the price they pay
for doin what we do
and not what we say
so I put that guitar back in the trunk
and drove that car to the city dump
left it there for the devil to drive
then walked home glad to be alive
"Nothing happens until something moves."

Gram,
I like this song. I might make one suggestion though.
If you don't mind.
Use the first verse as the chorus with what you have labled
as chorus as verse something like this:
last week I bought a used car
hidden in the trunk was an old guitar
came with a case and extra strings
and a lot of other very strange things
it had built in songs about done me wrong
but not a lot bout how to get along
a coupla tunes bout livin in sin

Would you mind if I made a demo of my arrangement of
this song? I played around with the chords you posted and
think I have some ideas.
Nice Writing
John
go ahead and enjoy. I really like your suggestions.
thanks

Hey Gram,
Here's demo I asked you about.
I credited you under your handle since I have no other name
to address you by. If you would like that changed in any
way let me know.
I used you chords like this:
AGAG - Verses
ADEA - Chorus
I also made a few slight edits to the lyrics.
Mostly it was the way they came out as I sang and
those are posted with the MP3.
I hope you don't mind but that always seems to happen
as part of my recording process.
Don't think I quite got the Buddy Holly feel to it but I tried.
Hope this meets with your approval I really like your work
and want to do it justice.
This is just a demo of my interpretation of your writing.
John
wow now that was incredible. thanks for taking the time. it's amazing to hear someone sing something you wrote and how they interpret it. I thought it was great. soon as I learn a little more about audacity and how to record I'll post my own version and see what you think. I guess i'll get a page at soundpage as well.
again many thanks

john
i guess i meant soundclick and I love how you a picture of an old car beside the song. I must learn how to do all of that. thanks

And thank you for allowing me to play with your work.
I've done this the other way around with Pbee and found
to be very satisfying.
That's what I like about Guitar Noise over other sites
there truely is a sense of community and sharing.
Audacity and SoundClick are both free and easy to use.
Believe me if I can figure it out anybody can.
I've enjoyed working with we will have to do it again.
Maybe an online jam sometime.
