This song came about in a round about way. Hilch (Trevor) posted in
SSG asking about downloading some songs to make a CD for his wife
(Trudy). He wants to thank her for all the support she's given him in
his quest to learn guitar.
All this got me thinking about his story and how much I would like
to use the name Trudy in a song. All day that morning the lyrics
haunted me while at work and this is the result.
It's one of those musician spending too much time on the road
songs from what I think is a slightly different perspective.
(Hey Hilch: This is different from what I sent you and Trudy
I added a bridge and tightened up the arrangement some)
Trudy (Don't You Understand)
(For Mr. and Mrs. Hilcher)
Trudy, Don't you understand your man
All he ever wanted was
To be a player in the band
Doesn't have to be the star
Just the guy who plays guitar
Trudy, Don't you understand your man
Trevor, Don't you understand your wife
She doesn't want some other man
She pledged to you for life
When her longing gets too much
She dreams about your tender touch
Trevor, Don't you understand your wife
All this time out on the road
Lonely voices on the phone
Trudy, Don't you cry into the night
He's only making music
Doesn't crave those city lights
We talk about the kids back home
How you spend way too much time alone
Trudy, Don't you cry into the night
Trudy, Don't you understand your man
All he ever wanted was
To be a player in the band
He doesn't have to be the star
Just the guy who plays guitar
Trudy, Don't you understand your man
Thanks For The Inspiration Mate!

No problem , I have never inspired anyone in my life before I am so touched that that post was enough to get your creative juices flowing and create such a wonderful song .
As already mentioned Trudy loves it and so do I and thak you for useing the names of Trudy and Trevor , its a beautiful feeling to hear someone singing your name along with your partners name ...
I know the song isn't about us but it is really nice to hear ....
And that is my goal ...maybe one day

Here is to you as good as you are
And here is to me as bad as I am
As good as you are and as bad as I am
I'm as good as you are as bad as I am
Hilch
If I ever get the chance to live out that ultimate musical dream
I promise that on my first tour of Australia you two will have
front row seats so I can play it for you properly.
Then I'll be calling you up on stage to do a number.
John
Hope you do get that chance mate
on this statement though :
Then I'll be calling you up on stage to do a number
I don't think Australia would ever be ready for my lack of talent on stage ... nice thought though but ...........
I know I 'll be there enjoying your music and cheering you on ...
Trevor..
Here is to you as good as you are
And here is to me as bad as I am
As good as you are and as bad as I am
I'm as good as you are as bad as I am
