I'm Happy with the Present

Pastel sticks richen up the blood
Flowing from ourselves
Words on a page
Take us away
We've forgotten our boundaries
And all the sins we've committed
To live the life's we obtain
We bury them away

A message haunts my poems
It never disappears
I want to ask you something
But I'm afraid I won't be brave
It's dangling above me
Screaming for some rain
But I'm happy with the present
Why don't I leave it the way it's been

We've got weeks growing younger
Faces looking older
Graduation invitations
To pass out to our elders
So let's forget
What I wanted to say
In a month we won't be here anyway

Your descriptions are perfect
Lovely and warming
As you breathe them into the air
Sitting her together on your white colored chair
They make me forget what I'll be leaving soon
But I'm growing stronger by the day
You told me in the future you've got to be that way
So I'm ripping the mask apart
I won't let memories bring me down
I'll make myself some friends
Party with some strangers
Fall in love with a member
I won't hurt then when it's over

Loose written pictures
Of harmless conversations
That I can never transfer from the paper
I wish to be stronger
Stand up to your eyes
Tell you I'm not leaving this spot
Until you hear what I've been wishing to say
That I've been thinking real hard
I've written it all down
Scratched all the bad parts out
I just need to you know
That I'm not going to go
I can't be a human
Living to become something better
If you're not apart of the procedure

But what if it goes away
And from then on
My eyes will fail
To be marked
By the beauty your life sparks
So I think I'll let it go
Continue living off a script
In a character I never meant to play
Maybe it'll be better this way
