This came out of a songwriting session I had with
with a guitarist/singer/songwriter I met with last
night.

https://www.guitarnoise.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=303380#303380

Our first time meeting and we put this together in
about an hour lyrics, music, and a rough arrangement.

Here are the lyrics

Last Train (Working Title)

(Instrumental Intro)

Took the last train out of Memphis
Looking for some piece of mind
Triyng to forget about Phaedra
Never met a woman so unkind

Not going to settle for second best this time
These hard luck lessons keep weighing down my mind

Got friends I can stay with in Omaha
Nebraska nights sure are cold
But it's better than the life I am leaving
Better than life on the road

Not going to settle for second best this time
These hard luck lessons keep weighing down my mind

(Instrumental Bridge)

So I took the last train out of Memphis
Looking for some piece of mind
Trying to forget about Phaedra
Never met a woman so unkind

Never met a woman so unkind

(Solo over verse and out)

John

I've never done that sit down and write with another writter but it is on my things to do before I meet the the big guy upstairs along with many other things ....

I have tried to write with my son but he always always want to call someone a very colourful adjective ...or is that noun or verb who cares anyway , I m sure you get the picture ...

I like to sit in silence and think and thats when I write my best songs usually 3 am 4 am in the morning , I have a question though ..

When you met , the understanding of use of words was that a big hurdle to over come , like the word Engine on a train it is also called a locomotive or loco for short ..

Well done John and Aaron

Cheers

Trev...

Here is to you as good as you are
And here is to me as bad as I am
As good as you are and as bad as I am
I'm as good as you are as bad as I am

Actually the way it worked out I did most of the lyrics and he did
most of the music although we both made suggestions to each other.

The chorus is 3/4 Aaron's and I came up with the chord progression
for the Bridge. He also came up with Omaha. I wanted to have him
leaving Memphis for New Orleans,N.Y.C.,or L.A. How Cliche

It's been a very long time since I've tried collaborating face to face
with someone. It was a great deal of fun.

Hello Celt. That's an excellent song, done quickly and well.
Here's my input:

Took the last train out of Memphis
Looking for some piece of mind
Triyng to forget about Phaedra (Phaedra? A rhyming name or term would sound better: "..about that Miss")
Never met a woman so unkind

Not going to settle for second best this time
These hard luck lessons keep weighing down my mind (lessons always test my mind)

Got friends I can stay with in Omaha
Nebraska nights sure are cold (nights are freezing cold)
But it's better than the life I am leaving
Better than life on the road (life on the grieving road)
