vic, or a more reasonable note, your right about being subconsciously influenced by the music you write, but as this is just an invitation to put any tune to it you could be infuenced by your own style but it wouldnt make the tune you did wrong, i dont really like fall out boy although i do admit the writing is very good, but its that guys style of writing, what would be a better idea is to take the overall feel of the writing, ie fast, witty and complicated and then put your own spin on it, if you try and write a song like a particular band and not your own style it will difficult to write songs off the top of your head.
