Song lyrics I've been working on for about 5 years. Comments welcome

A Story to Tell

Will you walk with me out on the plains of tomorrow
Laughing at fate as the wind blows our way
Will you share with me all the joys and the sorrows
Never fearing the past until today passes away

Oh...but there's a story to tell
Measure of time parts the curtain of truth
Oh...but there's a story to tell
Wistful romantics gaze at the daze of their youth

Cymbals crash neon expressions of love
Inviting a lust borne of victimless crimes
Hard fists of the hungry lie bruised on the sidewalk
Looking for solace from a bottle of wine

Oh...but there's a story to tell
Measure of time parts the curtain of truth
Oh...but there's a story to tell
Wistful romantics gaze at the daze of their youth

Eventide waters recede in the dawn
Surrendering promises made by the moon
Amidst driftwood and seashells and the barnacled bottom
Are the dreams of the children who grow up too soon

TV turns humans into living room people
A world shrunk to four secure suburb walls
If reality strikes you on all major networks
Retreat is found at the huge indoor malls

Oh...but there's a story to tell
Measure of time past the curtain of truth
Oh...but there's a story to tell
Wistful romantics gaze at the daze of their youth

Will you walk with me out on the plains of tomorrow
Laughing at fate as the wind blows our way
Will you share with me all the joys and the sorrows
Never fearing the past until today passes away

i love that. if you've been fiddling with it for five years, you've probably made many changes, and i don't think it needs changes, i just wanted to reply and say good job, and those five years of fiddling payed off. :D

In a word; unforgettable. This song is beautiful, flows wonderfully and i agree that whatever you did in those 5 years was worth the wait.

at last, philosophy is finding its way into songs :) (thankyou!)

I think, if I'd been playing with a set of lyrics for 5 years and only got two replies, that I'd slope off into a corner and sulk.

This is really good, so I'm bumping it back up the page so it gets looked at a bit more.

Best,

A :-)

Let me just say I love that you've been working on this song for 5 years. It's a great example of how careful thought and revision can turn into something beautiful.

Kudos

Great song, very meaningful. I really like the imagery.

Why *are* there so many songs about rainbows?

Mezmorizing. Brilliant. Keep it up!

There's a thin fine line between hate and rage.
Now watch the line be crossed and break!
