Hey there, folks!

I've whipped up a song that I like pretty well. I'm using the open chords Em, C, and D for most of it, with an A at a couple of spots. I need help on something that will serve as an intro. Maybe just a new notes (or a couple of chords or whatever) that will bring me to Em, my starting point. Any ideas that you'd care to offer will be appreciated. Thanks!

One of the simpler things you can try is to use the same chord progression and play it with arpeggios. Or mix and match some arpeggios with some strums. That's what I do when I don't have an intro.

For intros sometimes the obvious thing to do is start in the middle of the progression where things are already starting to return to the first chord; like the 'second half' of the chord progression if you know what I mean, or maybe just back up two chords from the Em, and start there.

Hope this helps.

What demo said about using the "middle" of you chord progression but maybe come up with a neat picking pattern on the last few chords before your Em then start strumming away. What sort of song is it anyways. Death metal, Jazz, Country?

Many thanks for the responses! I backed up two chords as was suggested, and that works fine. I've also stumbled onto something that sounds even better and will implement it into my Gospel song:

E-------------------------------------------------
B-------------------------------------------------
G-------------------------------------------------
D------------------------ 5i--------4i------------
A--------------------7r-------5m------------------
E--------------------------------------------Em---

Or better yet:

E----------------------------------------------------------------------
B----------------------------------------------------------------------
G------------------------------------------4r----2i-----0-------------
D------------------------ 5i--------4i---------------------------------
A--------------------7r-------5m-------------------------------------
E----------------------------------------------------------------Em---

I found that sliding up to that beginning note sounds even better...
