I was trying to play "You and Whose Army?" by Radiohead and I ran into a rather difficult chord.

I've only been playing since this March (2006). I have no problem with the d#m, but that g# is a bit of a stretch right now.
Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance :)
btw, for those of you who like RH, John Frusciante does a good cover of this song.
I'd say that a barred E at 4th fret is far easier than a barred G at first fret
that would be
466544 - you can even make a' half-barre' over 1st and 2nd string and mute the 6th string
good luck

 Barred G is one of those chords I saw once, laughed at and have deliberately removed from my memory. It ain't ever gonna happen around here :)
i use them all the time. barred c's and g's. even sometimes barred d'sit took a couple weeks to get comfortable with them, and i had been easing into it before, but it's no big deal once you start. you can do barred hammers and riffs with them.

Pure Genius--why didn't I think of that :D

I've looked at tabs over at e-chords before - there is an option there where you can transpose songs into different keys and get alternative voicings for the same chord - I think some of the suggested chords are of purely theoretical interest.
Come to think of, it another obvious alternative for G# would be xx1114 - I use that one in "I'm so tired" (Beatles)
And Smokindog - time for a G# jam perhaps? ;)

We could do that..I found a cool pink Floyd type jam in G that I can transpose to G# :D

Third time is the charm! :D

"Life is either an adventure or nothing" -- Helen Keller
Weird choices of chord shapes there, I'd play the D#m differently too, by doing an Am shape barred at the 6th fret.
I'd play it [x x 1 1 1 3], IIRC there is a bass that takes care of the root, and the top voicing is kinda essential here. Great great song by the way, a true masterpiece. :D
In case you hadn't noticed (Captain Obvious speaking...) the lyrics are pretty off in the link. Just in case you were going to perform it.
Actually xx1113 would be a G#maj7, but I guess that's a lapsus.
