(^I dont know too much about this one...)

What I prefer to play is rock/alternative like Blink 182, Green Day, System of A Down....etc.

So please help!! (yeah, I know...I already put a post up like this one but no ones responding to that one anymore...)

if you play green day and party well forget the telecaster.

Go for a LP.Epiphone one.

Now if i were you -

i will get this one.Spend these extra 100 bucks. The Epi you are going for is not of that good quality.

Well , its all a matter of going out and playing them.Nothing can beat them.....

Best of luck ,

I agree, Rahul, that a Standard Telecaster (much as I love mine) wouldn't do for Green Day etc., but the Custom with its 2 humbuckers certainly would, and so might a Jagmaster. You have to play one of these to realise that it's all in the neck. There's no better neck under $500 IMHO than Squier are turning out at the moment. How they do it for the price I can't think. Read this review: http://fender.demonweb.co.uk/product_reviews/Squier51TeleCustomTeleCustomIIStandardJagmaster.asp and check it out in person. If you're used to the Affinity they supply in the Stratpack then you'll be amazed at the jump in quality when you get to the Custom or Vintage Modified series.

But the Ibanez might also be worth a try - I don't know the one you mention personally, as it were, but the AS series hollowbodies are wonderful guitars at silly prices, so I guess their solids would be worth a try if you like the look of them.

But the main piece of advice I'd give is try before you buy - at this prices especially guitars vary widely even within identical models. You need to find the one that just fits your hands like it grew there, and sounds like the music that lives in your head. You'll never do that online, unless it's with s/h instruments on eBay, where you can sell 'em on if you don't like 'em - but then the shipping costs get prohibitive unless you're very canny indeed.

year ago I picked up an Epiphone Special as a bcakup guitar.

it was a very playable guitar. easy to hold and fret. it looked nice too. black is nice for a guitar.

one thing I did not like were the humbuckers. the the was mushy and indistinct.
it is worth the 129 dollars or so.
one could change out the humbukers and have a decent guitar.

that Ibanez is VERY similar to my own ibanez, and i love it. it's great for all kinds of music and it sounds pretty good. it can even do blues with the right amp/settings.

try them all in person though, you might find one better than those 3

but my recommendation is the ibanez

Some years ago now I had a bolt-on Epi SG, and it was an excellent guitar - lovely tone, good sustain, nice neck. Wish I hadn't sold it, now! I've not tried one of the recent ones, but I should think they're still as good generally ...

If you have a guitar center where you're at look at the schecters. You can probably talk them down for the schecter omen 006. Make sure you get one of the Korean built because the made in china ones have terrible fingerboards.

I bought one for my daughter. Plays almost as nice as my USA Jackson.
