Hello everyone... much like the "Squier '51" phenomenon of two years ago, I think I've stumbled on a fantastic guitar for little money. You've all heard about "First Act" - those guitars they sell in Walmart, Target, and Toys R Us - but did you know they make mid-priced and pro-level guitars? I didn't.
On another forum I read a thread about a guy who bought a First Act guitar that a music store was blowing out for $99 (originally $600) and couldn't believe how nice it was... well, apparently this company has $2500 guitars, a mid-line (which they are phasing out) of $300 - 600 guitars, and then the kid/intro line of $50 - 100 guitars.
I went to J&R Audio and they were selling the Sheena for $99. Here is a link:

I guess it is now $119, but you can get the guitar directly from First Act for $99:

Anyway... it is a set-neck guitar and I figured... why not? $99 worth a shot. WOW. I was very impressed. The guitar is built like a TANK and I was able to get it fairly well set-up in about 25 minutes. It has funky pickups, but they produce a pretty cool jangly-type sound. The bridge humbucker is pretty cool and the neck is a P-90.
I highly recommend the guitar for anyone looking for a cheap set-neck axe to play with... It even has binding around the entire body, neck, headstock. What I like most is that the guitar isn't just a strat or LP clone. You can get those at Rondo Music all day. This is a pretty cool unique guitar. Anyone else have one?
I know the economy sucks right now, but if you have loose change this might be a good guitar to take a chance on.

Congrats on the new guitar. It looks very unique with a kinda vintage vibe to it. 8) For the price it's very tempting.

First Act has had a booth at the last several Consumer Electronics Shows (CES) in Vegas. I've stopped by during a couple of the shows and found that FA's high end guitars are def nice gear, and pretty much unrelated to the cheap ones in Wallymart.
thanks for the tip Dali.
