How short are your fret hand fingernails? I'm a noob with only a week of experience. I'm having trouble with muting strings, especially the high e so I trimmed my feet hand nails really short today hoping that will help some. :?:
Very short and I make sure I keep them that way.
The trouble with long nails is you're not getting the strings down with your fingers, so all the strength in the hand is in the wrong place. Plus - things like hammer on and trills start to become difficult because you're not getting your fingers on the strings.
I'm a Classical guitarist - short left-hand nails, long right-hand nails. Because of that, my pick-hand tapping is rubbish.
