I've seen alot of bands use these sorts of stands when playing acoustic guitars, they basically hold the guitars up a certain height for playing so the player doesn't need to use a strap when standing and playing guitar. Does anyone know what i'm talking about and roughly how much they cost?

That would be weird leaning over to play acoustic on a stand.

I saw one used in a concert, I want to say it was America.
It was used by when the guitarist that was playing one guitar that was on a strap would swing that guitar around to his back to play a certain lick on the guitar on the stand, then back to the original guitar (perhaps the second guitar was in an alternate tuning?)

I saw a similar thing when i saw Metallica live, James (lead singer) basically played the acoustic intro with the guitar on the stand and then played the electric that he was wearing during the heavy parts. It seems like a useful thing to have on songs that require both an electric and acoustic, and I also don't like playing an acoustic with a strap. When playing an acoustic song live though, i'd probably just sit down.
