he can use this fretboard to beat the bush , scare the devils , fly off the cows and dogs and maybe to play cricket or baseball.Tommy dreamer use one in ECW.That sounds fun. :D
I actually found a pic of that kid when he was scalloping that fretboard.
Really.

Me thinks you'd need a couple of sea sickness pills if you wanted to zip up and down that board

many times, I've thought of throwing a guitar through the window...then thought better of it, it can only be better tomorrow,,,,
But if anyone came anywhere near one of my guitars and even mentioned the word "scalloping" he'd be very lucky to leave with all his limbs still attached to his torso....
*holds guitars lovingly....tell them it's all right , he lives a long long way away.....*
Whether the guy did it to get attention, or whether it was for real, he's a total, utter grade one knob-head.....

Everything is 42..... again.
Now I've seen everything!!    LMAO
Well, it still looks playable. I kind of like the look. It makes me think a sculpted fingerboard would be cool. It's not like the wood is actually doing anything.
Yeah it's a grin. But the guy was brave to try it. Braver to post a picture of the resulting mess. We're generally pretty good about cutting noobies slack for their playing abilities -- might just as well apply that same philosophy to woodworking skills.
It might still be playable, but I wonder about the structural damage caused by removing so much fingerboard wood. The fingerboard is important to neck rigidity in two ways. It works under compression to stiffen the neck, plus typically is critical in holding the truss rod assembly in place. Not a lot left to compress or take the stress from a trad-design truss rod.

Good point gnease, god knows I've done some bone headed things in my time   . I think he at least tried something , heck its just a piece of freakin wood!!Now he can practice replacing the fret board.
Maybe we should find this guy and invite him over to GN :D ==the dog

Maybe....he'd have to look at the "Slide" forum though, can't see that guitar being good for much else....
Still wetting underwear every time I look at those pics....thank God he doesn't live near me!!!!
Memo to self....Vic, take the 12 string into the guitar shop when you get home, DO NOT TRY AND FIX IT YOURSELF.....DIY is not a good thing if you don't know what you're doing, drink too much or take drugs....wonder what the phantom scalloper was on when he did that!!!!!
