Just wondering if anyone can help me identify the model of the red and white guitar that Sondre Lerche is playing in his video for "Phantom Punch" (video link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xL6fIpGR5lc ). :?:

Thanks! :)

Hi Meghan :D

My guess is, some sort of vintage Airline/Valco guitar - like the kind that Jack White used in the early White Stripes.

The thread under the video suggests that it's a 'Doraemon' Guitar (?????),
Which I've never heard of.

I think that the 'Doraemon' Guitar is the cartoonish one that one of the band members is playing. Thanks though. :D

Doraemon (do-rae-mon) is a Japanese cartoon character. He's called Doraemon because he loves to eat dorayaki (kind of like two pancakes filled with sweet red bean paste). He's a robot cat from the future who helps his "owner" Nobby with all kinds of gadgets that usually end with both of them getting into more trouble. It's a pretty old school cartoon from the 60's though it's still on the air in Japan. I actually have a couple of Doraemon things myself - e.g. the bell on my bike is a Doraemon bell.

I think I remember seeing the Doraemon guitar on the ESP website. Yup, here it is - http://www.espguitars.co.jp/doraemon/ It seems to be intended as a kid's starter guitar - Doraemon's still popular with kids and the built in amp/speaker makes it easy for small Japanese homes.

Thankx Hype. 8)

That was very informative, as well as cute.

If it's old school, I can't believe I haven't ever heard of it...?
Oh Well. :D

Well, we've identified THAT guitar anyway. :P

I spent a good deal of time last night trying to find an exact match for the red & white one ....
Couldn't come up with it.

I tried American, European, and Japanese types like the old Airlines....
Nothing

I'm sure someone'll know though.

That guitar looks an awful lot like the Supro Sahara made out of fiberglass.
This was a product of National/Valco/Airline. The company/companies have
such an involved history I'm not even sure which name to use. I have in my
procession one that looks identical to this:

The only difference being the name on the headstock is Atlas with a figure of Atlas under it.
I suspect that they were sold under various names.

Ive never seen one with that color configuration though.
