Okay this might be the wrong forum but yeah
About a year ago my parents bought me some strange little instrument. Their only explaination with it was that some salesman in the shop put it in his mouth and produced some sounds... I couldn't figure out how it worked so I put it away and forgot about it. But I was just browsing through some catalogue to see it again. This time with a name: a muzzle drum. If I google it, I get some Smashing Pumpkins tabs but nothing about the instrument. I did find a pic of it however and I was hoping someone here could tell me what it is and how it works...

Commonly refered to as a jew's harp in English, though I had a quick look at the site, and a more politically correct term 'juice harp', seems to be catching on.

Have a look at the site, 'muzzle drum' might come from the German term.

Ahh that was exactly what I was looking for, thanx :)
I guess the "muzzle drum" is a wrong translatation indeed, that's why I couldn't find more on the subject with google..

Sometimes they're called "jaw harps," which some say is the origin of "jew's harp."
