Its a great thing when you realize you still have the ability to surprise yourself.

I recall reading an article earlier this year in the Milwaukee Business Journal that had mentioned that Hal Leonard (based out of Milwaukee) would be starting a new guitar magazine this fall. I see the contact address is a Milwaukee address, so I'm guessing it's their new magazine...but no, I haven't seen it yet.

Heck yes I've seen it!! I bought the first issue (Zakk Wilde on the cover) and am definitely thinking of subscribing. It's an average magazine as far as theory, scales, and equipment goes, but their real claim to fame is the tabs.

Most of the magazine is devoted to tabs (complete with sheet music) and covers songs from the classics (crazy train, some metallica) to more modern songs (incubus, RHCP). There are 12 transcribed songs per mag, and they're all good. It's made by Music Dispatch Publications. Definitely worth checking out. :D

Life is my friend
Rake it up to take it in
Wrap me in your cinnamon
Especially in Michigan
...well I could be your friend- RHCP

Seems to me, for the cost of a typical magazine subscription (about $15 for a year), if that's what this costs, if every issue has 12 or so complete songs in tab, that's a bargain!

I get teary every time I think of all the Guitar for the Practicing Musician issues I used to have...all that tab...gone...

I'll have to see if I can find an issue. I've been subscribing to Total Guitar out of the UK - it blows away Guitar World and Guitar One - even though they are all owned by Future Publishing. I like it because it comes with CD's with the songs being tabbed and the backing track - which I use to record myself.

Its a great thing when you realize you still have the ability to surprise yourself.
