The picture below was taken at the Ovation Fanclub factory tour. They let us loose in a room filled with new, historical and prototype models. There had to be 30 guitars set out for us to drool over.
The guitar I'm holding is the possible 2007 collectors edition. They are not yet sure which sound-hole design they are going to use.

This is the paint room at Hamer. We had to pass 4 at a time through an air-lock that keeps dust particles out of the room. The finish on these guitars, even though they are not complete, is stunning.

Please let me know if I'm boring you.

Yep...it's koa.
I hate to talk in stereo-types.......but I will!
IHMO....Ovations tend to lean to the "bright" side of tone. The Koa top takes some of that away.
Generally speaking the sound is less Taylor-ish and more Martin-ish.

Hey, I'm an old Indiana boy myself, I call Valparasio my home town, But have lived all over the state. :D

A fellow Hoosier. Excellent! I know your neck of the woods. I'm about as south as you can go in Indiana, good 'ol Evansville.

Good pics everyone! There is something to be said about putting a face with the names. Now what that something is, I dunno. :P

Thirty Two years ago everything was cheap.

Yes, yes, $5 lasting all night, walking uphill both ways 10 miles through snow and ice to get to school everyday...

When you said that, it reminded me of some of the stories my grandmother used to tell about how expensive everything is now. I probably actually laughed way too hard over the whole thing. Unfortunatly, I'll never know how inexpensive things were back then since I'm just a youngun.

Our songs also have the standard pop format: Verse, chorus, verse, chorus, solo, bad solo. All in all, I think we sound like The Knack and the Bay City Rollers being molested by Black Flag and Black Sabbath.

The good news is that in 30 years you will be able to tell everyone how cheap things were today.
