Hi, a friend an I are taking turns playing lead with scales and he asked me to come up with a rythym and lead song for next week. So I am going with Put your lights on.

Does anyone know which scales go well with the chords. Basically the chords are variations of Am C G F E

Sorry for my lack of knowledge of theory. There is hope though. Noteboats book is on the way.

Thanks

Cheers,

Max

this was the first song i always used to jam too. its jsut A minor pentatonic. and c major....its because A is the minor 6th in the major scale of C....thats why it works.

have fun bro

It's a mix of both A minor pentatonic and the A minor scale, the C major scale has the same notes as A minor though, so it you're right. Of course, there are many different ways you could approach soloing, but I believe the actual song is those chords and the A minor scale with pentatonic links played over them.
