That curry I had the other night turned into quite the POS ;)

jokes aside:
-Frontman 15W amp, second-hand, on which the transformer blew after 1 month
-Behringer overdrive pedal... I get more overdrive adding my cat to the signal chain
-Ukulele. A brief amusement but not my thing.
-Cheap-ass 12-string. Got to get rid of that thing...

Then again there were a few POS'es that turned into my favourite guitars :)

I don't know about "bought", but I've had a couple of jobs like that.

I started with nothing - and I've still got most of it left.
Did you know that the word "gullible" is not in any dictionary?

POD XT Live.

I thought this thing would be great. So much diversity in one easy package.

WRONG. Absolute Tone Killer. If I had never heard a tube amp before, this post might be different but once you go tube, its hard to cope with digital.

Lessons learned.....

I am a tube amp freak. I love the warm tone.

Boss 1600CD digital recording unit.

Should be fantastic, great variety of effects, modes, whizzbang gromets, you name it. Plus you can burn your stuff straight to CD. Sounds good yeah?

In practice, the thing regularly locks up, I have had one hard drive totaly replaced and the likelyhood is another one soon, some of the effects (delay particularly) just make the thing go mental. The drum machine on it is virtually unusable unless you have an IT degree (why do makers of this stuff assume you are a tech head????).

I rarely use it. £500's worth of poo.

So frustrating......!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anyone else got one of these things?

Matt

it seems you either get a good one, or a bad one. I have heard that a lot of people get disc failures. Fair enough if you use and abuse....but i do not.

the really annoying thing is that i had all my stuff on the hard drive from when i started playing. Its all gone, never to be recovered.

If you do get one, back up frequently to CD.

I must have got a "built on friday afternoon" model....

Matt

So does it prove we all make mistakes ? Even the best of us players ?

I think the mistake is on the side of the manufacturer.
we're merely trying to find our way, our tone, out tech abilities/limitations.

I think there are some people/companies in the industry that take advantage of that...

"I get more overdrive adding my cat to the signal chain." I was laughing so hard. That really is funny. :D
