Technique Question or Tone or I dunno really

So i tryna play "Eruption" and its going pretty well so far. But this theres a certain sound im looking for right at the where he plays a quick A minor penatonic run but its like choppy i dunno how to explain it. I heard it in alot of music and it cool but when i play it doesnt have the sound to it. It's like between the 4s-6s mark on the album recording. Im pretty sure its not due to my tone because i got a v-amp and im using the setting designed for this song.So if anyone can help thats great and if u got anymore tips on Eruption at all that cool too. Tell me how long it took for u to learn it and what not. Help with tapping.Thanks.
