As usual I'm at my wits end.I'm trying to figure out what to buy for a more "country electric guitar" .I have been to my two local guitar shops and I'm not judgeumental but i do know that there's an amazing range.I also realize there's a plethoria of amps but I need to narrow this down, they won't let me just put my sleeping bag at the guitar shops(although Mccauley did smile).I am a huge fan of Dwight Yoakum and the older country twang but the more I play the ones in the shop the more baffled I get.I think maybe i'm just confusing myself, other than my Yamaha acoustic doing Steve Earle,Neil Young etc., I haven't played anything but rockabilly(Bodeans to Rockpile to The Blasters)Any help is a big help,I'm thinking seven hundred Canadian(200 American it seems at times)

I'm thinking along the lines of "Streets of Bakersfield" by Dwight

How much $$$$ do you wanna spend?

I'd say Tele and a good clean Tube amp. But it comes down to Budget eh?

There's one slightly off-the-wall suggestion, and I haven't heard much feedback on their Korean made models just yet, but browse around

A tele and a clean tube amp are always safe choices.

Not all, there's P90s and one based Gretsch style pickup

Sorry they used to have a wider selection on their American models.
Speaking of Gretsches, you might as well try out one of their cheaper models

I know you have a few guitars,my question is the pros and cons.. Primeta, this is a habit I re-developed,alas a serious one and I am paying support, own a house and trailor and boat etc so i don't want to go to high end but being a cheap New Brunswicker(grew up on turnips)I don't even know that brand.Forgive me I've been up 20 hours worked 14.I was wondering if they're even available in canada?.I don't do cc's online.

The Tele style seems to be wide-spread in country, but that does not limit you to the fender brand. G&L have a very good quality range ("Tribute") - I've played their Strat and it is a very nicely built instrument for a pretty good price.
Leo Fender sold Fender guitars to CBS in 1965 and a part of the contract stated that he was never to use his surname on another guitar. So he and George Fullerton set up a new company G (for George) and L (for Leo), producing "Fender MkII" guitars. Leo Fender reckoned that, with G&L, he was able to put right the things he thought were not up to scratch in his orginal design.

I started with nothing - and I've still got most of it left.
Did you know that the word "gullible" is not in any dictionary?

Hmm, and there is actually a New Brunswick dealer listed for G&L, I hope it's a better store than the ones in T.O.
New Brunswick

CHEZ LA GUITARE INC.
388 ST. GEORGE STREET
MONCTON NB E1C 1X4

A Tribute ASAT would be the Korean made Tele (I think).

I still have to get down to the states, and a real guitar stpre, where I can try G&L and Fender side by side.

If you are really worried about price, I might be persuaded to let go my Mexican tele. It's got a few dings in it. Not sure if I could get a relative to carry it back to New Brunswick, but I'm only in Toronto anyways. Have a look at the teles and see what you like.

Primeta i'm west of toronto nowadays.I'm going to be in Pickering the 13 to 17th for work and i'm going to check the area shops to see if they're cheaper if i'm not stuck on 12 hour training shifts.
