Yes, Gear Aquisition Syndrome. It is the disease of musicians, that really ain't so bad to have, unless you go to far. It is a disease of addiction.

It is a small world for metal fanatics. I welcome you fellow musicians, especially the metalheads!

Disease? Addiction?

This, my firends, is the NORM - this is how life is. The oddballs are those who DON'T have GAS! 8)

I started with nothing - and I've still got most of it left.
Did you know that the word "gullible" is not in any dictionary?

I have often wondered what the divorce rate is among guitar players compared to the general population. It seems I have met a lot of guitarists with as many wives as they have guitars.

Unfortunatly the voice in my head tends to be logical and says, "Pay your bills off first and then you can buy the biggest amp you want to without feeling guilty".

Can I borrow someone elses voice please?

Yes, buy as much as you can now. I got in a little trouble with the girlfriend for buying an effects processor earlier this week. The whole "but honey, it'll save me money in the long run because I'll figure out exactly what sounds I want, instead of buying tons of stompboxes" route didn't really help much. Hell, I even bought her a Fender babydoll tshirt that I thought was cool (read "will look great on her").

Anyway, buy it. Buy it all! :P

I think it's just with guitarists, bassists and drummers... because, i've never seen a violin player with 20 violins, or an obeo player with 5 obeos...

Those violin and oboe players need to get G.A.S. too. However, if you have one of those Stradavarius Violins that cost $2 million US, I could see where having several of them is pretty much out of the question. Imagine the gear a guitar player could get for $2 million. I don't know how much the oboes go for, but they can't be cheap for a great one.
