What is GAS? I hear it used all the time around GN and Its bugging me that I dont know what it means. Can anybody tell me?

maybe there should be a subheading called PAS...Pedal Acquisition Syndrome. I had that.
and maybe AAS. A for amp; Im always on the lookout for cool small vintage amps.
I think GAS is a myth. Everybody says as soon as you get into playing guitar you'll get GAS which is this disease that causes you to uncontrollably start buying all kinds of gear, but that hasn't happened to me.
Don't listen to what everybody says, you NEED all that stuff. If you make rational, careful decisions to buy things that you really need it's not GAS.
Like, take me for instance. I didn't buy that Les Paul because I had "GAS". I NEEDED it to be able to learn ... something.
And that new Breedlove acoustic I bought last month. That wasn't "GAS" - I NEEDED to have a guitar I could play without an amplifier so I wouldn't wake the kids up at night.
And that little Smokey amp I bought. I NEEDED that so I could play my Les Paul at night without waking the kids up.
I am already falling victim to PAS.

Well that is sort of true.
It becomes a feeding frenzy. Once one gets it, it doesn't quit until it conquers a few more victims. Then when you think you've gotten over it, along comes another highly contagious Gasser and it starts all over again. Get prepared, this is just the beginning. :wink:
