I heard it for guns way before I heard it for guitars.Same here. And I've seen it as Gear Acquisition Syndrome in a variety of hobby fields.

It's always funny when someone post on here that they got "GAS".

That is what Wikipedia has to say about it. I never thought photographers used it also.
