Hey undercat! Congratulations. I can't help but ask. Do you plan on doing a lot of multitracking. It just seem to me that the firepod was a bit of overkill. Unless of course you plan on taking your gear to gigs. I thought you migh be able to get away with something having less I/O and probably at half the price. Just wondering why you settled on the Firepod.

Yeah the studio seems cool.By the way , do you sing also or you gonna record someone else's songs.Anyway congrats for the mini

I do a little singing, the studio is helping me to improve that actually. Even as flattering as the mic is, the accuracy is a little overwhelming sometimes. I'm not sure I WANT to hear myself that well!

It would definitely be overkill for just me and my current setup of guitars, bass and vocals, rarely recording more than one at a time. One of the things I'm definitely looking for, however, is expandability. I'm as much a drummer as anything, and as soon as I have a place big enough, I'll be setting up and recording my drums.

Another big factor there is that there's this gap between the different recording interfaces. It basically goes from 2 inputs to 8, not too much in the 4 and 6 area, and 2 is not even enough for one person sometimes: doing vocals and stereo guitar demands 3 pre's.

All that taken in, my minimum number of pre's would be 8. When and if I expand my setup in the future, I'll likely try to expand to 16+ for a solid full band setup.

Do something you love and you'll never work a day in your life...
