i recently came upon an old squier strat of mine
i wanted to make it useful again, since i think no instrument should go to waste
i recently restrung it and the strings may lie too close to the fretboard, because notes higher up the neck make a clicking undistinguishable noise
i was hoping someone would know how to solve the problem

Another good site for setup is on Nil's homepage at:

make sure you turn up the volume knob when plugging into an electronic tuner.
perhaps your strings are not tuned to the right pitch or octave. if they are tuned too low they flop around and dont make the good noises.
middle C on the piano is our pitch. try tuning up again .
good luck finding the good noise.
