Hi, I'm not sure how this happened, and I feel like a fool for saying that because damage like this doesn't just happen. Anyways I feel terrible, but I hope it's not too bad.
What can I do to fix it?

hmmm, you took off your whammy bar and put it in the case, the case was bumped and the bar poked that hole in the guitar.
I think Frank Ford has an article on this...

If it's a solid body, it won't have any effect on the sound of the guitar.
It gives it a "lived in" look. If it were mine, I'd leave it as-is.

You might be able to bend the end of a paper clip with a pair of pliers and pull that piece back up. I'd have to look at it.
